While visiting our area be sure to consider all of the amenities the High Country has to offer.  There are 20 miles of hiking trails alone on Beech Mountain, with many more scenic trails in our immediate area with varying degrees of difficulty.  Biking is also a favorite sport in our area and Beech Mountain Parkway is well known to have been a favorite training ground for Lance Armstrong.  Nearby Lees-Mcrae College's USA Cycling Division I team finished in 2nd place in the nation in October 2007 in only their second year of Division I competition.  There are over 40 miles of biking trails on Beech Mountain.  There are two stocked lakes on Beech Mountain; Lake Coffey near the Beech Mountain Club recreation area and Buckeye Lake which is located next to the multi-million dollar town recreation facility bearing the lake's name and which is open to the public.  Although Beech Mountain has more roads and area than the nearby city of Boone, it retains its small town mountain community charm with shops, restaurants, recreation facilities and year-round activities planned and coordinated by the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce.  In winter, Ski Beech comes alive for ice skaters, skiiers, snowboarders and spectators alike.  New for the 2008-2009 season is a new tubing run!  Ski Beech also has many shops and restaurants in the ski village and within walking distance so you never have to be far away from the action.

Becoming a property owner on Beech Mountain opens up even more opportunities by giving you the choice of becoming a member in the Beech Mountain Club.  The private Club facilities include a ski house next to Ski Beech, 10 Har-tru clay tennis courts, a fitness center, a 6,099 yard 18-hole mountain golf course, clubhouse dining with views of three states, a cafe located between the putting green and 1st hole of the Beech Mountain Club Golf Course that has a large pavilion for lunch fare, a brand new, walk-in, beach style swimming pool, recreation department with an outdoor pavilion, indoor activity, kitchen and meeting areas, a day camp for children aged 3-14 and numerous other amenities.
